The Gay Life Style

By Tom Villella

Q. Dear Tor:

Why do people say they will call you...and never do? When I go out on a date... the guy seems to enjoy my company, and says he will call, and then rarely does. Why?

Dear Earl:

Eari C.

You are talking about not only a situation peculiar to gay life. but straight life as well. It seems to be a part of human nature...for all the verbalizing about honesty. most people still find it difficult to tell the truth in such a situation. As for you, stop worrying about it and move on. Getting yourself into a snit over the discourtesies of some klutz with no manners does YOU no good.

Q. Dear Tom:

I am really tired about all the pussy-footing around. What is the problem with saying it right out, in your every day life, that you are gay. If somebody doesn't like it...that's THEIR problem, not mine. I'm proud I'm gay...and I let everyone know it. If you creep around scared and afraid...people walk all over you. I say yell it loud "Gay is Good."

Dear Gary:

Gary T.

You don't say it, but I suspect that you are in your late teens. early twenties. First, I compliment you on the frankness, and more power to you. You. obviously, have found what works for you. But it doesn't mean that everyone should fol-

low your example. One reason: You may be at the beginning of your career...and it matters little if you declare your sexuality. But with all the homophobia rampant... a person who has built up a job or reputation over one or two decades would think twice about declaration. Bravo for you...but have a little understanding that you are living in a more liberalized (but still dangerous) era...older gays could talk to you for days about discrimination.

Exedra celebrates

On Sunday, August 17. Mary and Vince hosted Exedra's second anniversary party. As at previous similar occasions, the champagne flowed out to a large and happy crowd of people who took the opportunity to celebrate not only the anniversary, but also

individual accomplishments. All enjoyed the music programmed" by Exedra's accomplished dj, as evidenced by the continually crowded dance floor. A word of thanks to Mary and Vince for the occasion. Good luck in the future.
